Sunday 23rd December our Journey through Bethlehem went outside, the space in front of our hall was filled with children and adults enjoying food (vegetable curry, sausages, beans and potato wedges, coffee and mince pies) animals in a stable and live music from carollers.
Inside one hall was set aside for Christingles, decorating biscuits and other crafts alongside face painting and Santa visiting to take any last-minute requests.
Another part of the hall was a quiet and prayer area.
The focus for the evening was a Journey through Bethlehem. This dramatic presentation took groups of about 30 people with a guide on a tour through the Christmas story. Starting in Nazareth with the angel coming to Mary to tell her that she was to have a child. The torment when Mary told Joseph that she was a pregnant. The angel coming to Joseph to tell him that this was no ordinary child and the reconciliation between Joseph and Mary that they would parent their baby together.
Moving with Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem past two fearsome Roman soldiers to find that the was no room at the inn. The guide took the group outside to where the shepherds were minding their sheep when an angel appeared to them and told them to go to Bethlehem.
The group was then taken by back inside into the main hall to meet three wise men who were studying the stars and deciding that this was the time to travel to Jerusalem to meet King Herod to ask him where the baby was to be born.
The group was then taken to the court of King Herod and witnessed the wise men coming to ask the King where the baby that was to be the Saviour was born.
